Two Weeks. One Unforgettable Journey.
WI-LD Navigators is the third level of Camp Nissokone's Wilderness Immersion & Leadership Development program, designed for teens entering Grade 9 who are ready to take their wilderness skills and leadership to the next level.Week 1 — Skills, Leadership & Preparation
Navigators prepare for their expedition while developing skills in:- Outdoor leadership and teamwork
- Leave No Trace principles
- Fire safety and backcountry cooking
- Backpacking preparation
- Wilderness communication
- Navigation and group problem-solving
Week 2 — Pictured Rocks Expedition
Campers put their skills into action during a 5-day, 4-night backpacking expedition at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, traveling along the Lakeshore Trail overlooking Lake Superior.Navigators combines adventure, challenge, teamwork, and the incredible sense of accomplishment that comes from completing a backcountry journey together.
Schedule:
- Check-In: Sunday of Week 1, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
- Check-Out: Saturday of Week 2, 10 a.m
Registration Details
- Deposit: $100 per camper, per session — non-refundable and non-transferable
- Multi-Activity Discount: Save 5% on each additional activity
- YMCA Membership: Not required
Plans change—we understand! Cancellation requests should be emailed to camp@ymcadetroit.org. Your $100 deposit is non-refundable. For cancellations made April 1, 2027 or later, an additional $50 cancellation fee per camper, per session applies. Fees are refundable only in the case of illness or injury with a written note from a physician to YMCA Camping Services.In the case of homesickness, dismissal, voluntary withdrawal, late arrivals, or early departures, there will be no refund of fees. Cancellations received less than 7 days before the start of your session are not eligible for a refund or credit.
