About This Activity
Students will learn the game of chess through playful, age-appropriate lessons using stories, movement, and music to make each concept fun and easy to understand. Through these engaging lessons and friendly gameplay, students will strengthen their critical thinking and problem-solving skills while developing greater focus and confidence. Each student receives an Academic Chess workbook, has opportunities to earn sportsmanship prizes, and participates in the exciting final-day Big Tournament, where every student receives a prize. New and experienced players are welcome, and students are grouped by age and experience. Depending on class size, instruction may be led by one or two Academic Chess instructors.
