This class focuses on the integration of contemporary and classical ballet techniques, where dancers will explore the fluidity and expressiveness of movement, delving into breath control, emotional depth, and movement quality. The class emphasizes both physicality and artistry, encouraging students to connect deeply with the music and their own bodies as they perform. At this level, dancers are expected to demonstrate strong technique, acute alignment, and precise placement, all while expanding their movement vocabulary and artistry. This class challenges students to refine their technical execution through complex combinations that demand a high degree of strength, flexibility, and control. This class is ideal for dancers who are prepared to take their ballet and contemporary fusion work to an advanced level, refining their technique and expanding their artistry. Dancers may take this class in slippers or pointe shoes depending upon their experience. A $40 costume rental fee is required to participate in the end of semester performance and is paid to The Dance Connection the first week of class. Rented costumes must be returned after the performance to avoid additional fees.Level of Instruction: Advanced
Skills Learned:
- Contemporary ballet
Equipment Needed: Students are expected to wear a black dance leotard and pink ballet tights with pointe shoes. Hair should be pulled away from the face.
Registration Requirements: Dancers must be taking a minimum of 2 additional ballet classes to dance en pointe.
Skip Dates: Sept 1 (Labor Day), Oct 31 (Halloween), Nov 25-29 (Thanksgiving Break)
