About This Activity
Description

Intermediate Shorin-Ryu Karate
Continues and builds on our introduction to karate classes and is geared for those who have attained white or yellow belt status in our system or other systems of karate. Study is a little more demanding with introduction to approximately nine more kata forms over four belt colors.
Blocking, punching, and kicking techniques are perfected, as is body conditioning and strengthening. Stances and movements traditional to Okinawan Style, Shorin Ryu Karate are refined further with emphasis on transition and fluid movement. Students are introduced to individual and paired self-defense drills with other students as well as falling techniques, takedowns, and self-defense strategies.
Intermediate classes are offered Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 PM. Class is held in the Centennial Park Banquet Room B on Mondays and Thursdays and in the Centennial Park Acorn Room on Tuesdays.
Classes are taught by internationally ranked 6th degree Okinawan black belt Ted Jacobson of Shorin-Ryu Karate.
Your karate uniform (GI) is included with your first monthly class payment and a separate $50 annual registration fee per family payable to Ted Jacobson. Questions? Call Ted, 805-305-0517.
Students enrolled in this intermediate level class may join the Shorin Ryu Weapons class from 6-8:30 PM each Thursday. Monthly fee is $25 and requires in-person registration at the Centennial Park registration desk Monday-Thursday between noon and 5 PM.
