Washington Activity Center Competitive Jr. Suns League TryoutsThink you’ve got what it takes to play with the best? The Washington Activity Center invites athletes ages 11 to 13 to step on the court and prove themselves at our Competitive Jr. Suns League tryouts. These tryouts represent the northern community centers in the City of Phoenix, and selected players will represent the Washington Activity Center! Due to current gym closures, our tryout date will be on Monday, March 2 at 6:30pm and will take place at the Desert West Community Center Gym.Tryout Details:Location: Desert West Community CenterAddress: 6501 W Virginia Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85035Dates: Monday, March 2, 2026Time: 6:30 PM – 8:30 PMPlayers may try out onceTryout Fee: $5
League Information:Game Days: Saturdays, March 28-May 16Game Times: 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PMGame Locations: Vary weekly – teams will travel to other participating community centersLeague Fee: (if selected): $45
Team Placement:These tryouts are for the Washington Activity Center. Players selected will be placed on the WAC team.
Practice Schedule & Important Information:Each team may have up to 3 total hours of practice per week. Practice times vary depending on the team and location. Coaches will select their team’s practice time slots. No guarantees can be made for specific practice times. Players/parents should note any potential scheduling conflicts during registration.
Practice Times by Location: TBDTuesday: 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM | Thursday: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Important Dates:March 2 - Tryout @6:30pmPlayer selections will be sent out by March 7, 2026.
Parent Meeting - Wednesday, March 18 @ 6pm :Location: Washington Activity CenterPlayers and parents will have the opportunity to meet their teammates and coaches before the season begins.
Who Should Try Out?Players ages 11 to 13Athletes looking for a competitive basketball experience. Those willing to travel for games and represent the northern Phoenix community centers. Players who demonstrate good sportsmanship, teamwork, and dedication.
