Non-Swimmer Youth Swim Lessons (Starfish Swim School) – This class is for children who are not able to swim independently across the deep end of the pool and can not tread water for 30 seconds. An adult must be in the water with the child to provide support and assist with manual movements as the child learns swimming skills. Class ratios will be 1 instructor to 4 child/adult pairs.
In line with the CDC social distancing guidelines, social distancing will be implemented in our swim lesson program. The swim instructor will maintain at least a 6 ft distance from the participants during the lesson. Class ratios will be 1 instructor to 4 child/adult pairs.
The City of Phoenix has a streamlined, swim lesson registration process for "Youth Swim Lessons". You will simply select the session dates and time you would like to attend, and our talented team will do the rest!
On the first day of lessons, certified Swim Lesson Instructors will perform swim testing on each participant; assessing swimming abilities based on the Starfish Swimming Lessons benchmarks (see below). Your child will then be placed in the appropriate class, with similarly skilled children.
