This course is designed for rising seventh graders who plan to proceed to Algebra 1 as the next level in the Mathematics pathway. This intense five-week course covers Pre-Algebra topics including word problems, solving equations by inspection, powers and roots, irrational numbers, order of operations, distributive property, and more. Any student who took Pre-Algebra in the prior school year may take this summer course in order to solidify their Pre-Algebra knowledge base. Rising Grade 7 students, who took Pre-Algebra in the previous grade but did not meet the criteria to advance to Algebra 1, may take this course to satisfy the requirements if they: (1) earned 70%-85% in the academic year Pre-Algebra and (2) pass the summer Pre-Algebra course with a cumulative grade of 85% or higher. The cumulative grade will not appear on a progress report or transcript.
