Step outside the frame in this two-day digital art and augmented reality (AR) workshop inspired by the exhibition David Hockney: Works from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation. Guided by Teaching Artist and Digital Illustrator Fry and Creative Technologist Sonya Neunzert, participants will explore Hockney’s work, using the digital drawing app Procreate, custom AR code, and iPads to create drawings and animations that bring both the artworks and their creativity to life. Day One: We’ll start with a behind-the-scenes look at David Hockney: Works from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation, investigating the range of Hockney’s analog and digital work. Participants will choose an artwork that sparks their curiosity and begin sketching, animating, and layering their creations onto it. Day Two: Youth will activate their work using AR, discovering how technology can expand storytelling, remix more traditional art, and shape the future of creative expression. Why join? By the end of the workshop, each participant will learn to use the drawing app Procreate and create a unique AR artwork. The team at PAM CUT will share QR codes linking each creation to the exhibition, giving family and friends a chance to explore this playful intersection of art, technology, and imagination.
