Silver JV 14-18 (Sunday)
Level: Low Intermediate-Intermediate, Ball Type: Foam, High Compression, Court Size: 78’, Tournament Level: USTA Sanctioned Entry Level or Non-Sanction Competition
Silver JV 14-18 is the next level after Bronze JV 14-18 in our Junior Development Pathway. This class is a ton of fun, with a lot of athletic movement, and high energy instruction from our USPTA/USPTR Certified Tennis Professionals.? This class runs in monthly sessions and meets 1 time a week on Sundays. Players from this class can attend Saturday match play sessions from 11:45am - 1pm for a drop-in fee of $10.
Silver JV 14-18 is specifically designed to develop and equip current JV High School players or a player at an equivalent level, to compete for the top of their respective JV team and to prepare each player to potentially compete for a spot on their Varsity HS Tennis Team.?This class will focus on more advanced movement, agility, racquet preparations, rallies, placement, competitive competition and point play for singles and doubles.
Players will continue to work on fundamentals, but should already know how to score, and be comfortable with serving, groundstrokes, volleys and overhead fundamentals, as players will be introduced to much faster stroke preparations on the run, the slice & kick serve, return of serve, doubles and singles strategies and additional ball control using shape, spin and placement on their groundstrokes.
As players develop, coaches will separate players abilities to create level compatibility throughout the session, so that our 2 tiers of development criteria are fully utilized to optimize player development. Player graduation is approximately 12-24 months and Pro approval is REQUIRED to move to the next level of development.
Player pathway development criteria is posted online at https://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/article/683002 or posted in the PTC lobby.?
