Is your young son fascinated with military history? Then we have the camp for you! Welcome to Little Wars, where boys play with historically accurate, toy soldiers and engage in reenacted battles. Campers will be placed in a squad with boys their own age to train like 18th Century soldiers. These activities foster imaginative play and historical knowledge among the campers. Boys enjoy a blend of small group play and large-scale battles—complete with fortifications, landscapes, and artillery. Battles are reenacted indoors and out. Little Wars awaits! Each camper receives a toy musket on the first day of camp. They also take home a bag of soldiers on the last day. Jimmy Callahan, AP US History teacher and a graduate of the Citadel leads the camp. The afternoon session will focus on the American War for Independence (1775-1783). We briefly discuss key battles, leaders, tactics like fight in lines, marching, etc and then create our battle set ups with toy soldiers and toy guns.
