The Vassar Co-Ed Basketball Camp provides the opportunity for campers of all skill levels to improve their basketball knowledge and skill set while working side by side with the Vassar College Basketball Staff. A low camper-to-counselor ratio ensures that participants have the opportunity to reach their full potential. The themes we stress are teamwork, creating a safe learning environment for all campers, accountability, and sportsmanship. The morning session focuses on basketball fundamentals in both an individual and a team setting. Campers practice in smaller learning groups or game situations. The afternoon session begins with either a mini-lecture or competitions addressing a particular skill, such as shooting, individual defense, or a team concept. We focus on these fundamentals to reinforce the skill development of each camper and to raise the level of each player’s game. Our camp objectives are: to improve basic game skills; shooting, dribbling, rebounding and passing, improve offensive and defensive positional play, improve overall fitness, offer continual coaching during instructional and game situations, learn basic strategies and rules of basketball, emphasize teamwork and fair play and to learn more about basketball while enjoying the game. The goal of the boys basketball camp is to improve the level of play of each camper and provide him with a rewarding and fun camp experience while learning the fundamentals of basketball and making new friends.
