Young Music Makers is a playful, hands-on music camp inspired by the Orff approach—a child-centered way of learning music through playing, moving, and creating. Campers will explore sound using barred instruments like xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels, along with drums, hand percussion instruments, and body percussion. Through guided activities, students will develop and increase basic mallet skills, practice listening to one another, and experience how different musical parts work together as a whole group. Our growing musical skills will come to life through children’s literature, as stories transform into musical soundscapes filled with rhythm, melody, and imagination. Kid-friendly movement activities will help students feel the beat and express personal ideas. This camp encourages creativity, teamwork, and curiosity in a welcoming environment where every sound matters and making music together is the main event. A 15-minute presentation will be held for families on the final day of class. Instructor: Drew Scott, Prairie Primary School Music Teacher
