About This Activity
This class is designed to provide students with the opportunity to discuss, understand, and explore local, national, international, political, economic, and social issues in a respectful, meaningful, and active way. Throughout the semester, students will stay up to date on current issues and trends. Topics will vary considerably depending on the current news cycle. Students will be challenged to defend their opinions on many different issues through discussion or activities. Instructor: Audra Eckes Audra grew up on Long Island. After earning an MS in Deaf Education, she worked as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing in NYC, Long Island, and Maryland. She moved to NC in 2007 for her career but wound up becoming a bonus mom to a child who eventually needed to be homeschooled. So, in 2014, a new “teaching”/learning adventure began. Besides learning, Audra’s other interests include reading, writing, photography, dog rescue, and spending time with her grandson.
