About This Activity

D&D can be really fun and rewarding role playing game (RPG) for anyone interested. However it takes a considerable amount of knowledge and skill to play it effectively and to the get most fun out of it. Those who show up to play without this knowledge can quickly become confused and overwhelmed. As a dungeon master for THE’s D&D club, I’ve noticed the vast majority of the players showing up have a rudimentary understanding of how the game works and some are new together, having never played. This causes frustration for the whole table and really bogs down the gaming experience. My class offers a solution to this problem! A little investment of time now will go a long way for the players, and give them the knowledge and skills they will need to have a great gaming experience. Furthermore, as an added benefit, a graduate of this class will be given a priority spot on the waiting list for the D&D club, which we seem to have every semester. Students taking this class will need to own (or have online access to) a 5th edition D&D player’s handbook, and a set of polyhedral dice, and here are some of the things we will cover. The 3 pillars of D&D, all of the different types of dice, Character creation and optimization, character personalities and roleplaying, basic equipment, and magic items, how ability scores and proficiencies work, the adventuring process, combat mechanics, magic and spell casting mechanics, and much more… Instructor: Greg Corona I have been playing D&D since high school, and I currently DM a table in THE’s D&D club. I have been a part of both good and bad gaming experiences, and hold a ton of knowledge and experience that I have picked up throughout the years. I would be happy to share all of it, and pass it on to the next generation of tabletop gamers.
