This class is intended for students who have completed Sewing 1 or are already familiar with how to use a sewing machine and wish to learn more advanced techniques like machine embroidery, installing zippers, using specialty machines like sergers and embroiderers, sewing on accessories to handbags, and more. Students are encouraged to bring a pattern or project they would like to tackle, although options will be provided as well. Sewing with more difficult fabric will also be discussed as students will work with challenges like faux fur, silk, tulle, and more. Instructor: Jamye Carr "I have 20 years of experience in public school teaching, specializing in Biology, Chemistry, Aquatic Science, and Astronomy. Prior to working in education I was a marine biologist and histotechnologist, working on learning about animals and working with the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville and the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco Texas. My strengths involve my ability to work with a diverse population of students, from at risk teenagers to struggling adults. My passion is to make the world a better place, to increase the ability of students to manage their own problems, to solve through critical thinking skills, and to gather and process information skillfully."
