Breaking is a traditional dance in hip-hop that is mixed with acrobatics, martial arts, and different dances mixed together. This camp will have freestyle dance that will be to music from hip-hop, soul, funk, and techno beats. Campers will learn 4 basic elements in breaking: top rock, footwork or down rock, power moves, and freezes. The first element is top rock, which the student will learn basic fancy footwork in a standing position. Footwork or down rock is a fancy footwork performed on the floor with hands and feet. Power moves are tricks or acrobatics that will be learned on the basic level. Lastly, freezes are posses in different positions and will also be taught on a basic level. Campers will learn each element throughout the week and at the end of the week combine them all to create a set. All participants have to wear closed-toe sneakers and relaxed clothing such as jeans or joggers, and short/long-sleeve shirts. Bring water and a small snack. Also, eat a small meal before coming to class. Breakdance Workshop will promote confidence and courage to accomplish challenges
