About This Activity

Wow...Grammar is soooooo boring! How do we get the kids to know there's a better way to write: "Bruh, this class is bussin' no cap. ms s has the W riz fur real fur real on god, but i already got the mad gram skilz"? Answer: we're going to make it fun. In this short semester of grammar, we will begin with the parts of speech, learn basic punctuation, change those parts of speech into parts of a sentence, and, if time allows, start talking about homophones, homographs, and homonyms. Each lesson will be reinforced with crazy and fun games and activities. Short and optional homework will be given to reinforce concepts and will be designed for the kids to have fun and enjoy. Students should be able to read on at least a second-grade level, be able to sound out spelling words and be able to write their letters before taking this class. Instructor: Stephenie Stevens Ms. Stephenie has been homeschooling her two youngest children, Allen and Cooper, since 2018; Allen will be graduating this year! She has previously taught several classes at THE and has been involved with the D&D and Chess Clubs. She has had a well-rounded education, acquiring bachelor's degrees in both Genetics and Literature. Though her math and science skills are strong, her passion lies in the humanities. She nostalgically recalls early college days when she sat among peers pontificating about the meanings of life, the universe, and everything. The core of her educational philosophy is that teachers should be guides for students, showing them how to think and how to evaluate their thinking, rather than what to think. The core of her philosophy is to let every one prove themselves through their actions, to be and to encourage others to be kind, and to give grace to self and others.
