"Upon completion, students will receive a certificate for a 1/2 credit toward a science elective on transcripts. This immersive half-year course on DNA and Microbiology will touch upon a variety of micro-topics including Gram Stains, Pathogens, Eukaryotes and Prokaryotes, Microorganisms, Forensic DNA and Famous Scientists. We may even incorporate a fun literature book to weave the world of microbiology together. Like all of Renee’s courses, this will be a hands-on course incorporating microscopes, petri-dishes as well as various labs, games and projects. Because this is a transcript-worthy course, students will be required to complete some course work outside the classroom. It is highly recommended, although not completely necessary, that students have taken some form of Biology prior to this class. A basic understanding of cells should be had upon entering the class. Instructor: Renee Charbonneau Renee is a former elementary school teacher who specialized in grades 2-8 and special needs. After many years as a teacher, she decided to homeschool her two children, now in 8th and 10th grade. Renee obsesses over all things Harry Potter, science, and history. She can't wait to ignite students' passion for learning!
