About This Activity
Do you have a curious young mind who wants to take apart your electronics? As homeschooling parents we want to foster that curiosity but none of us wants to end up with our favorite gaming console in pieces! Trust me, I speak from experience! We will take donated and broken electronics and carefully and safely disassemble them and see what we can discover about how they work, and if they can be fixed. Mrs. Jamye has a digital microscope so we can even look deep into the crevices of the most mysterious of devices! We welcome donations from families of any broken or unused electronics taking up space in their homes. Electronic scrap from this class will be donated or recycled for repairs or art projects. Instructor: Jamye Carr "I have 20 years of experience in public school teaching, specializing in Biology, Chemistry, Aquatic Science, and Astronomy. My teaching style incorporates student guided inquiry based learning, Socratic instruction, and adaptive lessons. Prior to working in education I was a marine biologist and histotechnologist, working on learning about animals and working with the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville and the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco Texas. My strengths involve my ability to work with a diverse population of students, from at risk teenagers to struggling adults. My passion is to make the world a better place, to increase the ability of students to manage their own problems, to solve through critical thinking skills, and to gather and process information skillfully."
