About This Activity

"This course covers the scientific, biochemical, and social aspects of nutrition, as well as public health and health promotion. Throughout the course, you will learn about the impact of food on various aspects of your life, from your weight to your cognitive abilities. You will also explore how external factors, such as your family, peers, and media, can influence your diet and perception of food. With this knowledge, you can set yourself up for nutritional success. Studying the nutritional components of food and their impact on the body is crucial for maintaining good health and longevity. By taking nutrition courses, you can make a difference in the lives of others. This course discusses the characteristics of essential nutrients and evaluates the use of scientific research to determine nutrient needs while examining the various factors that make a healthy diet. In addition, each week, all ingredients will be provided to build our very own charcuterie board for the class based on the principles learned that week." Instructor: Beck Fahey Dr. Beck Fahey is a highly skilled professional with extensive and diverse competencies. As a seasoned college professor, she has designed, created, and instructed many courses for over fifteen years, including public health, meditation, science, and business. Her most recent consulting work as an epidemiologist with the Chicago Department of Public Health involved integrating software systems into disease investigations during the pandemic, improving case investigations and overall data quality. Dr. Fahey's desire to work with clients to improve their health, relationships, careers, and families led her to become an Integrative Nutrition health coach. She is eager to impart her knowledge of science and holistic health techniques to broaden your perspective of health and wellness.
