About This Activity
Discover the exciting world of drumming while exploring the connections between rhythm, math, and cultures around the world! Students will learn essential percussion techniques and explore rhythms ranging from Afro-Cuban beats to modern rock. Through drum circles, coordination exercises, group compositions, and hands-on jam sessions, students will build focus, teamwork, and musical confidence. They’ll even discover the math behind rhythm by using beats to explore fractions and patterns. No prior musical experience is required, just come ready to drum! Mr. Schiedermayer is a professional drummer and educator with 17 years of experience as an NBA lead percussionist and co-band leader, international USO/DOD touring experience, and 10 years as a PVPUSD percussion coach. He has performed alongside Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees and Grammy nominees and was named Mentor of the Year at A Place Called Home. We are excited to welcome Mr. Schiedermayer to PEF Enrichment this year! There will be no class on Monday, September 21. This class will meet for 9 sessions.
