About This Activity
Description
Bookbinding sounds like it belongs to people with fancy equipment and years of training —but the pamphlet stitch is one of the simplest, most forgiving bindings out there, and it's entirely doable with a needle, some thread, and a little patience. In this session, you'll learn the pamphlet stitch from start to finish: folding and scoring signatures, punching your stitch holes, and sewing a clean, sturdy binding by hand.Once your booklet is bound, you'll decorate the cover using a variety of papers, stamps, and collage materials — turning a plain folded book into something that feels entirely yours. You'll leave with a finished, fully bound booklet, ready to fill with sketches, writing, collage, or whatever your next creative impulse happens to be. No prior bookbinding or sewing experience is needed; if you can thread a needle, you can do thisAll supplies are provided — play with anything on the table while you're here. What comes home with you is what you create, not the materials themselves.
