About This Activity
Description
The SWAC Art Hub for Kids is open to children and pre-teens, ages 9-12, who are developing as visual artists. A wide variety of art materials are available for the students to explore and include in their art projects. On the first day of class, we assist young artists in developing an Artist’s Plan. We do this by brainstorming interests and ideas in order to set some flexible goals about what project(s) each child would like to work on over the duration of the program. In addition to creating an Artist Plan, each session includes an artist lesson (see sample curriculum). We also revisit plans on a weekly basis in order to reflect and make changes as needed. The rest of the time is spent in the art studio where kids will work on their individual projects. During studio time, kids receive individualized micro-lessons and tips, get support turning “mistakes” into opportunities, and/or receive guidance on how to work through moments of self-doubt. Not sure if it’s right for your child? You can try the first class before deciding if you will register! If you're interested in trying the first class, please text, call, or email us: 909 644 5686 or studioworksartcollective@gmail.com. (Note: 12 year old kids who are in elementary school tend to be a good fit in the Kids’ art hub. However, 12 year olds can attend either the Kids’ art hub or the Teens art hub. It’s entirely up to the parent.)
