This camp is an introduction to debate for Middle School students who have had no prior experience. Campers will be learning the foundational building blocks of logic, reasoning, points of views and perspectives to expand our analytical and critical thinking skills. Class time will involve writing exercises, games, small group and whole class simulations to equip students with the skills of making strong arguments and persuasive speaking. Students will also learn the basic building blocks of a formal debate team with an end of class tournament with a live audience (if possible). Students will get extensive feedback to track their progress. Highly experienced instructor and debate coach from Open Window School. All materials will be supplied and students do not need to bring laptops or any equipment besides curiosity and a willingness to learn while having fun and making new friends in a safe space.
