About This Activity
This program channels students' interest in space exploration and science fiction into serious engineering practice. Working in pairs, students design and build robotic machines - from planetary rovers to mechanical droids - while learning to control their creations through hands-on programming. The space theme keeps engagement high, but the underlying work is rigorous: each build requires students to apply real principles of mechanical design and iterative problem-solving.
