About This Activity
The Creating Understanding Tutoring (CUTS) Test Preparation Program empowers rising 7th–9th grade students with the skills and confidence needed to excel on the SSAT—an important step toward competitive high school admissions and long-term success on future college entrance exams. Throughout the week, students engage in targeted instruction across every section of the SSAT, using a proven learning strategy known as Spaced Repetition. This research-backed approach strengthens retention by moving newly learned concepts from short-term memory into long-term memory, making information easier to recall and apply under test-day conditions. More than just test prep, CUTS equips students with lifelong learning strategies. The skills students gain extend far beyond the SSAT, helping them study more effectively across all core academic subjects. By mastering how to learn—not just what to learn—students build a strong foundation for academic achievement now and in the years ahead.
