About This Activity
The counselor-in-training program offers a valuable opportunity to learn the skills necessary for working with children. Through this program, upper elementary and middle school students gain hands-on experience and guidance in understanding child development and effectively engaging with young minds. The program emphasizes boundary setting and lesson planning, enabling teenagers to establish appropriate limits and create engaging and educational activities tailored to the needs and interests of the children they will be assisting. First aid and emergency skills will be covered to help learn ways to create safe learning spaces for children and what should be done in an emergency. Along with all the practical skills for counselor training, CIT's will also have a fun field trip, daily swimming, and time to enjoy the company of friends. This camp is ideal for students interested in becoming camp counselors, babysitters, or a coach. Please note this year there is a cancellation fee of $50 should you choose to withdraw from any camp after registering. There is a change fee of $25 if you decide to withdraw from a week and move to a different week.
