About This Activity
Description
Students who are technically capable and physically developed have the option of participating in Pointe class as part of their Vaganova training. The Preparation/Pointe/Variations class will focus on developing the coordination, muscular strength, and placement for pointe work. Emphasis is placed on the proper foot, body alignment, and core strength needed to safely and successfully dance en pointe.
The class consists of beginning and intermediate pointe technique by incorporating exercises at barre and center. Center work includes intermediate combinations and repertoire from traditional and original ballets (variations). Once students have acquired strength and technical proficiency, they are allowed to take the class en pointe.
