Description
Ages 13+ or with teacher permission Students who are technically capable and physically developed have the option of participating in Pointe class as part of their Vaganova training. The Preparation/Pointe/Variations class focuses on developing the coordination, muscular strength, and placement for pointe work. Emphasis is placed on proper foot, body alignment, and core strength needed to safely and successfully dance “en pointe.” The class consists of beginning and intermediate pointe technique by incorporating exercises at barre and center. Center work includes intermediate combinations and repertoire from traditional and original ballets (variations). Once students have acquired strength and technical proficiency, they are allowed to take the class en pointe. Note: Students must be attending both Ballet III and Ballet III/IV classes weekly to be invited to take this class. Students at ages 12+ may be considered based on technical ability.
