Description
"Around the World of Dance" camp expands the horizons of the mind and the body. Campers experience dance styles from around the world in a welcoming, noncompetitive environment. They'll participate in African, Latin and Brazilian dance forms melded with contemporary modern and hip hop dance, as well as the ancient Indian practice of Yoga.Each day will include a yoga session followed by morning technique classes alternating by age group. After a break for lunch, afternoon technique classes will lead into a reflection/closing circle time to end the day. Open to all levels of experience, camp will conclude with an informal performance on Friday, February 20 at 2:15 pm.
This exciting week is led by Hochstein Dance Department Chair, Nicolette Ferguson, certified yoga instructor (200 RYT) and former principal dancer and master instructor with Garth Fagan Dance for over two decades. This camp is a true immersion into the world of dance - offering a comprehensive and educational experience into some of the newest and most traditional dance forms.
Space is limited – register early!
Participants must provide their own bag lunches and snacks.
Dance attire for camp:-Footless or convertible tights or pants or shorts-Solid colored leotard or solid colored t-shirt-Barefoot OR dance shoes-NO street shoes on the marley floor-Hair pulled back-No excessive jewelry
