About This Activity
This entry-level course is designed for beginners interested in learning the fundamentals of machining. Students will be introduced to essential machine shop safety practices, how to determine proper speeds and feeds, and the correct use of precision measuring tools such as dial calipers and micrometers. The course also covers basic machining theory, as well as the setup and operation of both milling machines and lathes. Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to enroll in Machining Part II for continued skill development. Students must bring safety glasses and wear reinforced-toe shoes to each class session. (This course costs $310).
