About This Activity
Learn to sculpt the human face in clay. We will discuss the anatomy of the human face, learn the basics of sculpting in clay, surface decoration and different glazing techniques. We’ll look at historical masks and the work of contemporary artists. The finished piece is a wall hanging sculpture, that could also be used as a seasonal garden decoration. Bring your own ideas to the class, all levels welcome. Course fee includes clay and glazes. Class skips 5/6. Instructor Sasha Laurita has been working with clay for twenty-five years, first as a potter and then as a sculptor. She holds a Master’s degree in Sculpture and Visual Arts from Fontbonne University where she completed one of the few programs in the country focusing on the art of the human figure.
