About This Activity
Description
The telescope is the most basic tool of the astronomer. With instruction and assistance from Imperial Centre education staff, participants age 7 and up will learn basic astronomy. Along the way, campers will build and learn how to operate their very own simple refracting telescope, useful for observing the Moon and other celestial targets. Hands-on activities will include a variety of telescopes, moon maps, star charts, other observing equipment. Drop-off and pick-up are at the Children’s Museum & Science Center Classroom. Campers will then participate in hosting the free public Star Party at City Lake Park, weather permitting, on Friday evening, August 1, 2025, at sunset.
