About This Activity
Description
Robotic explorers from Earth have visited every planet, as well as numerous moons, asteroids, and comets, in our solar system. With instruction and assistance from Imperial Centre science education staff, participants ages 7-12 years of age will design and build their own out-of-this-world, fictional robot sculpture. Techniques explored may include: research and story building, real world robotic space exploration, wire armatures, scale, dioramas, scratch building, kit-bashing, greeblies, weathering, display, photography, and tricks used by Hollywood special effect wizards. Before taking home their unique creations, participants may have their work placed on public display in a special short-term exhibit at the Children's Museum & Science Center, alongside the museum’s current Robot Zoo exhibit.
