About This Activity

Description

* This program runs from June 10th to August 12th, and the times vary.

Did you know volunteering is a great way to explore interests, meet new people and to do something good for your community at the same time? If you answered YES, this is the opportunity for you! The Leaders in Training (LIT) participants assist in the Youth Programs from June through August. The LIT will work with children ages 3 – 11 years and assist instructors while leading sport specific activity’s, playing large group, playground games, and arts activities.

LIT participants meet once a week on Monday to develop their leadership skills and styles, participate in team building initiatives and take on a summer long community project. Participants will also be scheduled for additional weekly volunteer hours at program sites of their interest.


Minimum qualifications

Must be twelve (12) to fifteen (15) years of age.

Must attend a five (5) day in-person training, the training times will vary between 9am-5pm from June 10-14, more information will be sent out to participants.

Has a desire to work with early childhood children or school-aged children.

Has the ability to follow instruction from city of Roseville staff.

Has the ability to follow workplace safety procedures.

Has the ability to be self-directed and provide excellent customer service to all participants.

Has the ability to learn and demonstrate various activities and assist in keeping children engaged.

Must be dependable and patient with children.

Our Ideal Volunteer

Previous experience with children and larger groups is helpful but not required. For example: babysitting, assisting with younger siblings or cousins, helping children in younger school grades than yourself, previous Scout Troup leadership, church group activities, etc.

Ability to commit to a minimum of 1 day each week (maximum of 3 days a week) preferred for volunteering at program sites.

Interested in a variety of sports and arts activities and working with early childhood children or school-aged children.

Please note: registered participants will receive an email communication in advance of the start of program that will include a LIT application. This will be their opportunity to state what volunteer availability and interest they have for the summer.
