About This Activity
Lights, camera, action! In this on-camera acting class, students will learn the fundamentals of performing for commercials, TV, film, and YouTube in a fun, supportive, and confidence-building environment. Young actors will be introduced to essential on-camera techniques such as slating, hitting marks, taking direction, reading cue cards, and staying connected and natural on camera. Using age-appropriate commercial copy and scenes from kid-friendly television shows and films, students will practice bringing scripts to life while developing comfort and confidence in front of the camera. Throughout the semester, students will have opportunities to watch playback of their work, helping them build self-awareness, performance skills, and confidence in both their voice and physical presence. In addition to learning practical audition and acting techniques, students will strengthen creativity, focus, communication, and the ability to make strong acting choices in the moment. Whether students are curious about acting professionally or simply want to build confidence and have fun trying something new, this class offers an encouraging space to explore the exciting world of on-camera performance.
