Love singing along to songs from your favorite movies? Sing the Movies is a fun and engaging introductory vocal class where young performers will learn the basics of healthy singing while exploring music from popular animated and family films. Through ensemble singing, musical games, movement activities, and playful vocal exercises, students will build foundational singing skills such as breath control, posture, vocal support, healthy vocal placement, pitch matching, rhythm, diction, and beginning music-reading concepts, including simple solfège (“Do-Re-Me”) exercises. Class material may include songs inspired by favorite movie musicals and animated hits such as Frozen, Moana, Encanto, Wicked, Sing, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and other family-friendly favorites selected for the interests of the group. In addition to building vocal technique and musical confidence, this class encourages creativity, imagination, and the joy of bringing our voices together. The semester will conclude with a musical showcase on the last day of class for family and friends, featuring ensemble performances of songs the students have worked on throughout the session.
