Salinas Bowmen Archery Range
About This Activity
The Island Shoot will take place at the Salinas Bowmen Archery Range on May 19th.
The Island Shoot originally started in 1982 when the Channel Islands were not allowed to be hunted any longer. We incorporated some of the species found on the Islands into our Island shoot. Members created paper mache targets and used real horns. They included native island fox , feral pigs and imported animals such as black tail deer, Spanish sheep and even buffalo. We no longer use those paper mache target, we now include 28 3-D Rhinhart and novelty targets at marked yardages on our 15 acre range.
Targets will be placed along a rolling hill walking course with a variety of shooting elevations and distances among an oak grove. Archers will shoot three arrows for each target. Shooters can purchase mulligans (2 min/2 max) at $1 a piece on the day of the event. Lunch will be available on range.
Practice butts will be available for warm up prior to shoot.
Registration opens February 15, 2024.
