Students explore how natural materials, plants & sand, can be transformed into art through hands-on experimentation and design. In this enrichment class, children work with botanical dyeing and sand-based creation to discover how color, texture, and movement interact, using techniques such as layering, pressing, pouring, and pattern-making to guide materials that are both unpredictable and dynamic. Each class introduces a new approach using natural elements, allowing students to create unique pieces while developing patience, focus, and creative confidence. Throughout the program, students print leaves and flowers onto fabric, create patterns through sand layering and movement, experiment with natural dyes from plants and everyday kitchen materials, design both permanent (fabric) and temporary (sand) art, and observe how materials behave differently when controlled versus released.
