Description
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification r.24 This is a three day blended learning lifeguard certification course that includes both online coursework and in-water and classroom skills. Participants must complete the required online portion prior to the first day of class.About the certificationProvides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Valid 2 years.
Class Schedule Friday 1/30: 4:00 pm to 8:00 pmSaturday 1/31: 8:30 am to 6:00 pm Sunday 2/1: 8:30 am to 6:00 pm
What to Bring:Participants must bring a swimsuit, towel, water bottle, and lunch. Goggles are optional. Hip packs, resuscitation masks, gloves, and whistles will be provided.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite swimming evaluations will be completed on the first day of class. Participants must successfully complete both of the following:Prerequisite 1: Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest. Jump into the water, fully submerge, resurface, then swim 150 yards using front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Goggles are allowed. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Swim 50 yards using front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both.
Prerequisite 2: Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Face may be in or out of the water. Goggles are not allowed. Surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10 pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to the starting point while holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face at or near the surface. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
