Adventure Riding Camp caters to older, more experienced riders. A prerequisite for participation is a high comfort level on bikes and the necessary skills and mental focus required for big days on the bike. ARC participants can expect long/moderate or short/steep climbs, the potential for 15+ miles daily, and occasional requirements to carry bikes up/down stairs or other obstacles. Block 4: (Sessions 9 and 10): August 3 – August 14: Bike Camping Focus: This block will culminate in a 3 day, 2 night camping trip to Angel Island! In addition to lots of riding, our first week will be spent together learning camping skills like setting up a tent and preparing food in a camp kitchen. Campers will help us plan our trip menu and our route. During the second week, we’ll load up our bikes full of gear, hop a Ferry to Angel Island, and spend a few days hanging out, riding bikes and playing on the Island before heading back to camp. Wheel Kids will provide meals and basic camping equipment for the trip; campers will need to provide their own sleeping bags, sleeping pads and a way to carry their stuff. There are many options to carry gear, and coaches will work with campers and families to help ensure their set up is ready to go before the trip!
