About This Activity
Session 1 - Math: Shake, Shuffle, Roll Students will participate in math practice using cards, dice and other manipulatives to build their problem-solving skills. Learn new math skills and have fun! Session 2 - Piano: Introduction to Improvisation This class with provide an introductory understanding of improvisation in music and beginning skills of sight-reading music and improvisation at the keyboard. Students will learn the basics of beginning improvisation alone, with a partner, and as a group in varying styles and genres. We will explore the beginning basics of jazz theory and accompaniment as we explore the keys. Students will also be introduced to beginning reading on the staff, basic rhythmic exercises, and other beginning musical concepts and terminology. Basic beginning staff reading skills recommended.
