About This Activity

This course is designed primarily for rising Grade 9 students and prepares students to take Algebra 2 + Trigonometry as the next step in the mathematics pathway. The summer program provides a deeper understanding of Euclidean geometry and its real-world applications, with an emphasis on both deductive and inductive reasoning. Students will explore the properties of two- and three-dimensional figures, including triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, and prisms, while also reinforcing key Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 concepts. Course expectations include two to three hours of required, graded homework each day, along with self-study practice and multiple assessments. Students will complete a cumulative final exam at the end of the course. Students must enroll in one of two program options: For-Credit or Not-for-Credit. Please review the criteria below carefully and select the appropriate option during enrollment. For-Credit Rising Grade 9 students may take this course for credit to proceed to Algebra 2 + Trigonometry if they meet both requirements below: Earned 90% or higher in 8G Algebra 1, and Earn a cumulative grade of 95% or higher in Summer Honors Geometry. The cumulative grade will appear on the student’s progress report and/or transcript. Not-for-Credit This option is intended for students who took H. Geometry in Grade 8, and want to strengthen or reinforce their Geometry skills. It is also suitable for rising Grade 9 students who have previously completed Geometry but did not meet the criteria to advance to Algebra 2 and Trigonometry. Rising Grade 9 students may use this course to satisfy Geometry requirements if they meet both requirements below: Earned 70%–85% in the academic-year Geometry course, and Earn a cumulative grade of 85% or higher in the Summer Geometry course. For the Not-for-Credit option, the cumulative grade will not appear on the student’s progress report or transcript.
