This course is designed for rising Grade 7 students who plan to proceed to Algebra 1 as the next step in the mathematics pathway. This intensive six-week course reinforces key Pre-Algebra skills and concepts, including word problems, solving equations by inspection, powers and roots, irrational numbers, order of operations, the distributive property, and more. Rising Grade 7 Stratford students who completed Pre-Algebra previously but did not meet the criteria to advance automatically to Algebra 1 may use this course to satisfy requirements if they meet both conditions below: Earned 70%–85% in the academic year Pre-Algebra, and earn a cumulative grade of 85% or higher in Summer Pre-Algebra. For students using this course to satisfy requirements, the cumulative grade will not appear on the student’s progress report or transcript. Note: This course is also appropriate for students who completed Pre-Algebra during the academic year and would like additional practice to strengthen and solidify foundational skills, or new to Stratford students who have been recommended a summer math course by the campus leaders.
