Advisor Name: Carmen Duran Email: CARMEN.DURAN@BASISINDEPENDENT.COM Meeting Days: Tuesday,Thursday 4-5pm Description: Mock Trial allows students in grade 9 and above to learn more about the justice system, while also honing their oral presentation skills. Team members work together under the guidance of two attorney coaches over several months to prepare for trial: they develop case strategy, draft opening statements and closing arguments, write effective direct and cross-examinations, and create memorable witness performances. This work and preparation culminate in February at the Santa Clara County competition, where students make their way to the Santa Clara Superior Courthouse to compete against other Santa Clara County high schools. Students will be required to bring their own computers to work on their material in club.
