Biology 2 For students entering grade 9 in the fall of 2024. Description This biology course covers grade 8 and will further students’ comprehension of cells by learning about the cellular processes in-depth and -the maintenance of homeostasis. This course will dive into the details of the biochemistry of carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids. Cellular transport and membrane structure are emphasized. Plant processes like photosynthesis are studied at a molecular level. Students will learn all basic reactions occurring in the process of cellular respiration. Cell division, Genetics, DNA structure, DNA replication, transcription, and translation are studied in depth. Evolutionary and ecological concepts will be reinforced especially in the context of genetics. This course is an excellent preparatory course for Honors Biology.
