The Junior Lifeguard Program offers step-by-step skill development with a safety-first motto based on the Red Cross GuardStart course.
We take pride in offering a variety of challenging activities in a fun atmosphere designed for the youth ages 11-14. Participants will need to bring a lunch.
Course prerequisites include:
- Swim front crawl for 25 yards continuously while breathing to the side.
- Swim breaststroke for 25 yards using a pull, breath, kick and glide sequence.
- Tread water for 1 minute using arms and legs.
- Show comfort on back by floating on back for 30 seconds or swimming on back for 25 yards using the elementary backstroke or back crawl.
- Submerge and swim a distance of 10 feet under water.
