6th Grade ELA and Writing Skills Grade: 6 Period 2: 10:20-11:45 Instructor: Heinrich Ranches Jumpstart 6th grade writing and critical thinking skills in this engaging, project-based course! Through creative lessons and cooperative activities, students will learn how to write descriptive sentences and well-structured paragraphs! They will learn strategies for responding to literature and work collaboratively to hone new skills! Each week, students will explore different modes of writing (expository, argumentative, descriptive, etc.) as they create a standards-based Writer's Reference Guide that they can use during their middle school years! In addition, study skills strategies and critical thinking skills are explicitly taught to get students ready for middle school life! This course is low-stress with high-impact results: helping the new 6th grade student gain confidence and skills to begin the middle school journey!
