About This Activity
Description
Adventure Guides launch parents and their children on a journey of discovery, with the child as the explorer and the parent as the guide. The program emphasizes the YMCA's belief that parental involvement plays a vital, positive role in a child's development. Adventure Guides encourages parents to get to know your kid while your kid is still a kid with group activities such as games, crafts, songs, stories, skits, ceremonies, and outdoor pursuits. This program is a wonderful opportunity to build, strengthen, and nurture healthy relationships between dads and their kids through challenging and fun activities such as Winter Camp, museum sleepovers, pinewood derby, Catalina Experience Campout and many more. The one-on-one time in a fun, special environment builds important bonds through shared experiences.Trailblazers is a program designed for returning Adventure Guides participants or older youth and their caregivers who want to continue building their relationship through outdoor experiences and community engagement. With a focus on leadership, independence, and service, Trailblazers offers more advanced adventures—such as multi-night campouts, team challenges, and leadership development opportunities—while maintaining the core values of connection, character-building, and quality time. The program empowers participants to take on more responsibility, deepen friendships, and strengthen family bonds in a fun and supportive environment.
