About This Activity
“Sea Turtles & Their Nests” Every summer, Southwest Florida's beaches become nesting sites for one of the ocean's most beloved animals: sea turtles! Our most common nesters on Sanibel are loggerhead and green sea turtles. Join us to learn about the incredible nesting process of sea turtles: from a mother turtle's nighttime visit to the beach to the exciting emergence of hatchlings racing toward the Gulf. With September toward the end of the season, we’ll also have some exciting updates to share on how many nests were laid by species. And of course, we’ll focus on how people can help protect these incredible marine reptiles. Content and activities tailored for ages 10 - 15. Homeschool at Sea courses are designed to be drop-off programs. However, parents/guardians are welcome to shadow—only ONE adult chaperone per family. For all programs, ONLY registered participants are allowed to attend (no younger or older non-registered siblings).
